Find Secondary English Teaching Resources

About

Hi, I'm Kristi!

Moore English comes from the belief that reading is a conversation and writing is a social activity. Teachers and students grow more when the dialogue is open, so I hope you'll join us!
I'm Kristi, a nerd, who designs resources for busy language arts teachers who want to make literature accessible for students.

There is a lot of teaching advice floating around the internet. And everyone has opinions about what it means to be a “good” teacher.

But you are a good teacher.

Investing in growth, being patient with yourself, and loving your kiddos is all it takes to be a good teacher.

Good teaching doesn’t mean toiling each night to design a perfect and elaborate lesson.

Sometimes good teaching is about knowing when to reach out.

I’m Kristi (she/her), and I help teachers like you find engaging lessons, fuss-free instructional strategies, and real talk about what it means to be a good teacher.

Moore English comes from a love of curriculum design and a passion for deep-dive language arts nerdiness. As a new teacher, I was looking for literary criticism resources, abridged and adapted texts, and standards-aligned assessments. When I didn’t find what I wanted, I stopped scrolling and started creating.

Now, I share my years of experience with you. Want to introduce a complex new text? There’s a resource for that. Want to try a new critical lens? I have a starter pack for that. Want to try a new poetry collection? I have dozens of suggestions!

Or, do you just need someone who understands? I do.

I know how hard it can be to grade high school literature essays. I know how badly you want to be perfect, but I know that’s not real. I am past my teacher martyr days, and I can help you put down that mantle, too.

Reading is a conversation. I hope you’ll join this one.

While I am now secure in who I am as a person (and teacher), I spent many years searching. Sometimes my searches were literal travels, but most of the time I searched for myself in literature. Other times, I searched in the classroom. In that quest, I earned Masters degrees in curriculum and instruction and in English literature.

As I became more confident in my personal life and in the classroom, I spent more time focusing on self-reflection. During this period, I became a National Board Certified Teacher. It’s not always been an easy journey, but it’s taken me to amazing places, introduced me to incredible role models, and helped me arrive at a kind of unexpected inner piece.

Right now, I’m working on my doctorate in K-12 administration. I’m glad my journey led me here, and I’m glad you’re here, too. I can’t wait to walk together into a better future for our students.

In my free time, I love to snuggle down with a good book, catch up with friends over a meal (that I did not cook), or sneak in a quick work out. My puppy Rowdy, a Diet Coke, and a note pad are never far away!
